Brownieland’s Randy and Robyn share their stories of adopting their two sweet furbabies, Casey & Willoughby, in celebration of National Puppy Day today! "We have been fortunate enough to find three amazing dogs who we've loved dearly. Our first girl, Allie, passed away at 16 a number of years ago. We wanted to find another great dog like her, a sweet yellow lab. We ended up with a rollicking mix of long haired chihuahua, tree walking coonhound and Jack Russell terrier, all in one bouncy package. Willoughby has enough personality for everyone and he loves to share his thoughts with all who meet him. We saw him at an adoption event in a crate with his brother, who was a full blown Taco Bell chihuahua, and we said, there must be some mistake, he can't be a chihuahua. But, he's a long haired chihuahua who looks like a papillon and is one of the best things that ever happened to us. Our sweet boy Casey has had a troubled past. We rescued him through @adoptagoldenatl - an amazing organization that helps golden retrievers find homes. Casey originally came from Turkey, where he was picked up as a street dog, Over the years AGA has rescued over 1000 golden retrievers from Turkey. Casey was so afraid of us when we met him he just barked and barked. But over time, he has gotten comfortable and has become such a sweet boy. We adore him. He has been our greatest joy, knowing we could give him the safety and comfort he needed to thrive. Every month, @brownieland.pictures is committed to participating in a volunteer event of our choosing, and on September 24th, we were fortunate enough to join @alsageorgia for The Walk to Defeat ALS. Our team has been dedicated to raising funds for ALS across almost a decade. These monetary contributions have also helped raise awareness of ALS as a chronic and debilitating illness within the local, state, and national community as well as among our own partner network. Amplifying this fight and the nonprofit, The ALS Association, is an initiative that Brownieland will continue to be an advocate for years to come. For the July @brownieland.pictures Volunteer Project, we participated in the @pebbletossers volunteer opportunity with @incommunityga ~ a nonprofit organization that provides care and support to those with developmental and intellectual disabilities (IDD). InCommunity supports community members with activities and experiences that make life purposeful such as career training, education, fitness programs, artistic exploration and spiritual pursuits. The Brownieland Team wrote Thoughtful Notes for InCommunity clients and staff. Brownieland is proud of the video work we produce in partnership with @atlspeechschool for @coxcampus literacy courses. The Cox Campus is a digital outreach platform for the Atlanta Speech School’s Rollins Center for Language & Literacy. Cox Campus’ free interactive courses and tools are designed to equip any adult interacting with children from birth through age nine in ways that support language and literacy development. Cox Campus recently released its new Teaching Writing to K-3 course to complement its existing free Science of Reading training. Developed in collaboration with expert Dr. Margie Gillis, the Teaching Writing to K-3 course offers content on processes and skills that students need to become fluent writers, as well as practices that can be implemented immediately to bring these skills to life in the classroom. This year’s book choice for infants is I’ll Build You a Bookcase by Jean Ciborowski Fahey. The book choice for 3-5 year olds is a collaboration between GEEARS’ Mayor’s Summer Reading Club, the @alliancetheatre , and the @atlspeechschool funded by partners at PNC and supported by the @cityofatlantaga . The book, Atlanta, My Home, is written by local author Breanna J. McDaniel and illustrated by R. Gregory Christie.

Talk With Babies, Make a Difference is the latest video course created in partnership with @gradyhealth. By the end of this course, learners will understand the critical role they play in ensuring every baby leaves the birthing hospital in the arms of families prepared to support their baby’s early language and literacy skills. In honor of Mother’s Day, the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy (GACCA), in partnership with @thestarrinstitute_ , celebrated and highlighted the importance of caretakers practicing self-care with the “Take Off Your Mom Hat & Recognize Your Worth” event. The day featured workshops focused on self-care and empowerment for caregivers, including a cooking demonstration, a vision board workshop, yoga and meditation practice, homemade facials and massage, and a workshop centered around building your own self-care practice. Since 2013, @brownieland.pictures is proud to have partnered with @teachonproject, producing videos that showcase outstanding public school educators. We are honored to work with an organization that provides resources, grant funding, and support for metro Atlanta public school teachers and leaders. However, with the strain of the COVID-19 pandemic, Teach On Project is having to take a pause to reinvent the organization in a way that can best help elevate excellent educators throughout metro Atlanta. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Brownieland Pictures partnered with @motherhoodbeyondbars , an Atlanta nonprofit organization that supports infants with an incarcerated mother & reunifies families. For our January Volunteer Project, MBB and the Brownieland Team created a project called Quilted Together. We wrote 100 letters to pregnant incarcerated women and created an Amazon Wishlist Donation Drive that includes urgently needed items.
